The Organisation
Women’s Legal Service SA (WLSSA) is a state-wide specialist community legal centre. WLSSA provides legal advice, representation, community legal education and support services to disadvantaged women living in South Australia.

The Role
The Director of Community Services will focus on leading the continuous improvement of a range of programs with the primary objective of increasing the capacity of women to engage with the legal system in an active and meaningful way.

Located in the CBD and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading innovative program design and development in accordance with the organisational strategic plan
  • Monitoring the provision of service delivery ensuring compliance with funding targets, budgets, and legislation
  • Providing leadership and direction to a small team
  • Supporting the implementation of risk management processes and procedures across all programs and projects
  • Operational management including budgeting and reporting
  • Collaborating with internal staff to ensure effective service delivery
  • Developing and nurturing relationships with external stakeholders with a view to building successful partnerships

About You
We’re seeking a confident and engaging senior leader who has the agility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment.

Other skills, experience and attributes required include:

  • Extensive program management experience, ideally within family violence, mental health and/or homelessness sector
  • Previous leadership experience
  • A willingness to learn and develop
  • A clear and confident communicator with the ability to build meaningful partnerships
  • Positive and influential leader who can facilitate change and continuous improvement
  • Creative problem-solver with a “can-do” attitude
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and communication skills with the ability to operate and communicate at a senior level
  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Development, Human Services, or a related field
